TCY Machinery: Frequently Asked Questions

TCY Machinery Mfg. Co. is located in Taiwan and manufactures reliable, intuitive and easy-to-operate flexo folder gluers, rotary die cutters and corrugating machinery. In September 2021, Greene House Group became the exclusive sales representative for TCY within the Western United States.

In this blog, Frank and Hayden of Greene House Group answer your most pressing questions regarding our partner, TCY Machinery, their equipment, US support, and capabilities.

How long has TCY been making machines?

TCY has been manufacturing machinery for the global corrugated flexographic printing market since 1959. They began selling machines in the US in the early 2000s.

With over 300+ employees, including 35+ global service technicians, TCY manufactures and installs between 40-50 machines a year. They have about 2,000 machines in service throughout the world, with many boasting over 25 years on the floor.

What US support do they offer?

TCY is committed to supporting and servicing their customers within North America for many years to come. In 2021, TCY invested in a Chino, California facility to support customers with spare parts and prompt service.  They offer English-speaking remote support, direct machine connections, on-site service and various levels of diagnostics and troubleshooting, quickly and securely. TCY is a member of AICC and partners with local, reputable sales agents, like Greene House Group. They also attend many industry events within North America, including various AICC events, Corrugated Expo, Corrugated Week and more.

With plans for future US facility renovation and expansion, TCY is dedicated to the long term success and support of their US customers.

Why should I buy a machine from TCY?

TCY Machinery is very different from other Asian corrugated manufacturers. The company has made significant investments in their supply chain and manufacturing processes in order to rise above the stigma of “cheap Asian equipment”.

In House Manufacturing & Quality Materials. TCY uses highly refined Japanese steel for all machinery and manufactures and assembles various part and component in house.  They take pride in having state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities, capable of building everything from simplified, standard machines to fully customized equipment. With a dedicated JUMBO manufacturing facility, a state-of-the-art corrugator, FFG and RDC manufacturing plant and multiple service & parts warehouses around the globe, TCY is focused on making corrugated machinery the RIGHT way.

Engineered Performance & Secure IT Controls. TCY also owns specific intellectual property rights and patented technologies and continually innovates their machines for ease-of-use, performance, durability, speed, and reliability. Their machines are known for their reliability, simplified controls, intuitive & modular designs, and long life. They are popular corrugated workhorses engineered to simply get the job done, fast and easy. TCY also has their own computer control group department, consisting of all TCY staff, that engineer their own HMI controls and provide remote support for Smart-Tech enabled machines.

US Support & Service. Add in their commitment to local, US support we spoke of earlier in this blog and you have the makings of a manufacturing partner dedicated to your long-term goals in US corrugated converting.

What are machine lead times?

We are proud to say, TCY machine lead times are around 8 months to 1 year. Their state-of-the-art manufacturing facility offers a large production capacity, manufacturing up to 12 machines at the same time. Their dedicated facility for JUMBO equipment is capable of building 2 JUMBO machines in the same facility. TCY production staff are paid a fair wage, with a large amount of workers retained at the company for years. With a substantial, tenured production workforce and multiple, large manufacturing facilities, TCY will get your machine installed as soon as possible.

Why has TCY not sold machines in the US in the last 20 years?

From 1997 to 2000, TCY entered the US market for the first time by partnering with a US company. However, the venture faced unforeseen challenges as the US company encountered financial difficulties, ultimately resulting in them filing for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy after only a few years of collaboration.

Without the support of a stateside partner, TCY decided it best to pull out of the US market. For 2 decades, they focused instead on strengthening their company internally, re-engineering their machines to be better, and securing and solidifying their in-house staff, equipment, software, and operations.

After almost 20 years building their credibility in the global market, TCY was ready to re-enter the American corrugated industry in 2020. For years they searched for reliable partners, like Greene House Group, and created and trained a dedicated support team of TCY direct employees for the US market. For 3 years, TCY has been actively marketing to the US corrugated industry, eager to show the performance, reliability, efficiency, and durability of their equipment.

What are TCY plans for the US market?

TCY has a goal of selling and supporting at least 4 machines in North America in 2023. By 2024, 6 machines and by 2025, 10 machines. Their vision has always been to grow into the US market with diligence and excellence and they sincerely hope their history will not define who they truly are as a company. TCY will continue to invest in US-based personnel and facilities to show their dedication to MAKE IT RIGHT in the North American market and across the globe. Their machinery, processes and systems are better than ever and they are excited to present their best, once again, in the US.
